Girard-Perregaux Partners the WinteRace
Girard-Perregaux once again participated in the WinteRace, the classic regularity rally, which was held in the beautiful setting of Cortina d'Ampezzo from March 1st to 3rd 2018. Accompanying the Girard-Perregaux team on the snowy roads was the new Laureato Chronograph.
50 historic cars and 20 modern Porsche cars lined up on the starting grid of this 6th edition of WinteRace, competing on a 400km route divided into two day-long stages. The winner of the WinteRace 2018 was the Sisti-Gualandi crew driving a 1937 Lancia Aprilia. Second place went to the Patron-Casale team aboard a 1925 Bentley 3 Liter and the third spot was taken by Margiotta-La Chiana at the wheel of a 1958 Volvo Amazon P 120.
Girard-Perregaux, founded in 1791 in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, has always had a strong link with the world of racing cars, based on its substantial experience in the production of chronograph watches. Used by drivers to measure intermediate time intervals or two events with the same starting point, but with different arrivals, chronographs have always been an essential element in car racing.
The model that Girard-Perregaux decided to highlight during this year’s WinteRace was thus quite naturally its new Laureato Chronograph, this timepiece is part of the Laureato collection, originally launched in 1975 and designed for relaxed daily wear. Made of 904L steel or pink gold, available with a 42 mm or 38 mm-diameter case and interpreted in three dial colours, the Laureato Chronograph is an exceptionally versatile watch.
During the WinteRace, the Girard-Perregaux team was sporting the Laureato Chronograph steel in both 42 mm and 38 mm sizes.
